Luce Library named in “Great Libraries of the World”

The February 23rd edition of American Libraries Direct, the e-newsletter of the American Library Association, has awarded the Stephen B. Luce Library distinguished recognition as one of the “Great Libraries of the World.” This announcement was posted in the newsletter’s AL Direct feature, which celebrates 250 libraries around the world notable for their exquisite architecture, historic collections, and innovative services. The Luce Library has been specifically nominated for its strong collections in marine engineering, naval architecture, marine transportation, nautical charts, oceanography, transportation economics and management, and meteorology. The entire list of notable libraries has been published in The Whole Library Handbook 5 edited by George M. Eberhart and will be released later this year.
